There is no single panel count that suits every Brisbane home. The right system depends on how much electricity you use, when you use it, the roof area available and the size and type of panels selected.
Start with your electricity use
Review recent electricity bills and interval data. Look at total daily consumption and how much electricity is used during daylight hours. Households that run appliances during the day may use more solar directly than those that are empty until evening.
Check the roof
Roof orientation, pitch, shading, usable area, roof condition and obstructions all affect panel layout. Your switchboard, meter and local network export limits also need to be checked.
Panel count and system size
Panels come in different wattages. Total system capacity is the number of panels multiplied by each panel's rated capacity. Compare the exact panel model, inverter size and proposed layout rather than relying on a headline panel count.
Plan for future needs
If you expect to add an electric vehicle, pool, air-conditioning or battery storage, mention this before the design is finalised. A system can be planned with future upgrades in mind, subject to equipment compatibility and network rules.
Prepare for a quote
Have recent electricity bills, your property address and any available roof or switchboard photos ready. A site-specific assessment is the best way to compare system sizes and expected generation. See our solar panels Brisbane page.
